The Department of Transport developed two sustainable transportation initiatives, the TravelSmart and Local Area Access programs. The two initiatives form a competitive grants program aiming to effect change in modes of travel, encouraging a reduction in car trips and an increase in more sustainable travel modes.

However, without statutory planning approvals and the approval of relevant authorities under Victorian Legislation, even the most ambitious projects can be derailed. Therefore it was vital the Department of Transport was fully informed as to the possible risks, variables and approvals required for projects that may receive grants.

The role of this contract was to utilise extensive knowledge of Victorian planning legislation, other relevant legislation, and procedures to develop a suitable planning feasibility assessment process.

hansen, together with the Department of Transport developed a structured, interactive model to assess and review relevant legislation and considerations for each project.

The project demonstrated hansens ability to develop unique processes and models structured towards individual projects. hansen was able to assess and provide advice on over 80 individual projects Victoria wide within a two week period. The project demonstrated hansens extensive capacity, knowledge and creativity in providing unique solutions to challenging projects that meet client expectations.
