16/12/2011 social events in december

On the 2nd of December a group of 6 staff including Ben Dohrmann, Jane Keddie, Redmond McNamara, Cameron Gentle, Ruth Gavin and Freya Shaw attended the Victorian Young Planners 'Street Art Tour' hosted by Blender Studios. Starting from Federation Square, the tour explored some of the well-known and lesser known laneways around the CBD. The local knowledge and experience gained from our hosts, who are also street artists in their own right, provided some valuable insight into urban spaces in our city that might otherwise go unnoticed to the vast majority of persons.

Then on the 8th of December, as part of the hansen social club, a group of 14 staff enjoyed a leisurely bike tour of the inner northern suburbs. Starting from the office, the tour visited a number of development sites through Carlton and into Brunswick, with a focus towards sustainable medium density housing. Some of the stops included the Westwyck 'eco-village' and 1 Heller Street, Brunswick – both of which hansen had obtained the planning permit. A few cold drinks from the rooftop terrace of 1 Heller Street looking over the soon-to-be opened public park capped off an enjoyable evening.
